Thurs 11 May 2023 Apia Samoa. A Tsunami Advisory issued by the Samoa Meteorological Services at around 6:00am Thursday morning has been cancelled.
The tsunami advisory was issued following an earthquake of Magnitude 7.6M, Depth 210km and Distance of 539km West of Apia was felt at 5am (Samoa Time) this morning.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) records an aftershock of Magnitude 5.1M, Depth of 193km, felt soon afterwards.
The Tsunami Advisory issued earlier has now been canceled.
The Samoa Met Office confirms it is now safe as the threat is over.
