TRUTH ALWAYS COMES TO LIGHT
Proverbs 19:5 “A false witness will not go unpunished, and whoever pours out lies will not go free.”
Lies often feel like an easy way out. We convince ourselves that bending the truth or hiding facts can protect us—from consequences, embarrassment, or conflict.
However, today’s Proverb is clear: dishonesty eventually catches up with us. Time may delay the consequences, but it won’t erase them.
Lying doesn’t just hurt others; it damages our integrity and our relationship with God.
When we lie, we step away from the God of truth and walk into darkness. The weight of keeping up a false story, hiding from exposure, or living with a guilty conscience becomes a prison over time.
God calls us into the freedom of truth. Though telling the truth can be difficult in the moment, it will set us free from the the bondage of continuing to lie, in order to cover up the false story.
But telling the truth builds a foundation of trust, peace, and integrity. And when we fail, God’s grace invites us back to honesty, repentance, and restoration.
Prayer:
Merciful Father, help me to love truth as You do. Convict me when I’m tempted to lie or hide, and give me the courage to speak with honesty and humility.
Teach me that truth brings freedom, and lies only delay what will eventually be revealed.
Thank You for Your mercy when I fall, and for calling me into the light.
