Third Member of Public Service Commission Announced

Friday 22 October 2022 Apia Samoa. Prime Minister Hon Fiame Naomi Mataafa has announced the appointment of Nonu Lemauga Saleimoa Vaai as the third member of the Samoa Public Service Commission.

Nonu Lemauga is a private Human Resources Consultant with a demonstrated history of working in the human resources industry.

He is the current President and founding member of the Samoa Human Resource Institute (SHRI). Although he worked full time in the private sector, Nonu holds various roles such as his position as Chair of the Samoa Competition & Consumer Commission (SCCC) and Independent Member of the Vetting Committee for Samoa Rugby Union.

He fills a vacancy in the three-panel Commission with the resignation of Aiono Mose Su’a as Chair. Nonu joins the Public Service Commission, that is chaired by Lauano Vaosa Epa with member Auelua Samuelu Enari.

The Prime Minister said in a press conference with media Friday afternoon that it is important for the 3 member panel to be complete.

The Public Service Commission team have their work cut out for them, with seven CEO positions of Government Ministries being advertised.

The seven contracts are up for renewal that includes Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ministry of Prime Minister and Cabinet, Ministry of Customs and Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Commissioner of Police, MCIT, and MWTI.
