Happy Friday Saints.
In Mark 10:45, Jesus said that He came to “GIVE HIS LIFE AS A RANSOM FOR MANY.”
The Greek word translated “RANSOM” means “The price for redeeming. The ransom of life. To liberate from the misery and penalty of sins.”
The first part of Romans 6:23 says, “FOR THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH…”
There is a price that must be paid for our sins. And the penalty for breaking the law is death.
Jesus essentially came to “GIVE HIS LIFE.” He came to die on the cross. He came to pay the price for our sins. He came to liberate us from the misery and penalty of sin.
1Peter 1:18-19 says, “YOU KNOW THAT GOD PAID A RANSOM TO SAVE YOU… AND IT WAS NOT PAID WITH MERE GOLD OR SILVER, WHICH LOSE THEIR VALUE. IT WAS THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF CHRIST, A LAMB WITHOUT BLEMISH OR DEFECT.”
All the gold in the world wouldn’t have been enough to pay the penalty for our sins. The price for our redemption was the life of Jesus. He was perfect in every way. He was sinless, honourable, faithful, and pure. His PRECIOUS (and innocent) BLOOD was shed for all of us who are guilty.
Romans 6:23, in its entirety, says, “FOR THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH, BUT THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE IN CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD.”
Our salvation is a GIFT. We deserve death, but instead, God offers the GIFT of salvation to all who believe that Jesus is Lord and that He died on the cross for our sins and rose again for our justification.
Romans 10:9 says, “IF YOU DECLARE WITH YOUR MOUTH THAT ‘JESUS IS LORD.’ AND BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART THAT GOD RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD, YOU WILL BE SAVED.”
Notice the assurance that you can have because of Jesus. It doesn’t say that you “might” be saved. It says, “you WILL BE saved.” Glory to God.
Have a great day and a fabulous weekend in Christ.
God bless, and lots’a love,
Warren
