Psalm 23:4 “YEA, THOUGH I WALK THROUGH THE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW OF DEATH, I WILL FEAR NO EVIL; FOR YOU ARE WITH ME; YOUR ROD AND YOUR STAFF THEY COMFORT ME.”
We all go through dark times. They are a part of life. Thank God for the mountain-top experiences, but even when we’re walking through “THE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW OF DEATH,” we can take comfort in the fact that our good Shepherd won’t forsake us. We might feel lonely, but that doesn’t mean we’ve been abandoned.
Deuteronomy 31:8 says, “THE LORD HIMSELF GOES BEFORE YOU AND WILL BE WITH YOU; HE WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU. DO NOT BE AFRAID; DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED.”
Three things gave King David comfort in the valley. The first was knowing that God, His shepherd, was with him. The second and third were the Shepherd’s “ROD” and “STAFF.”
Back then, a shepherd would use the ROD to defend the sheep against wild animals. So even in your darkest moments, you don’t have to fear evil – you can be at peace knowing that God won’t let your enemies defeat you.
A shepherd would also use the STAFF to guide the sheep. So you can rest assured that God will be with you, and He will guide you through your darkest moments and bring you through victorious.
No matter how deep the valley might seem or how dark the shadow of death might appear, it’s always good to remember that you are walking THROUGH it.
Valleys are not permanent! So don’t build your life around your darkest moments. Don’t let the darkness define who you are. Let God guide you THROUGH them and let Him lead you back to GREEN PASTURES and STILL WATERS.
Have a fabulous week. God bless and lots’a love,
Warren
