CALLED TO A DIFFERENT LIFE
Ephesians 4:20–21 “That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ and were taught in Him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus.”
Paul makes it clear: the life we once lived—shaped by the world’s patterns, desires, and thinking—is not the life we were taught when we came to Christ. The gospel doesn’t just forgive us; it redirects us. It calls us out of the old and into the new.
In these verses, Paul is drawing a line in the sand. He reminds believers that the Christian life is not simply adding Jesus to our old way of living; it’s learning an entirely new way from Him. We no longer take our cues from the world around us but from the Lord who saved us.
To be “taught in Him” means our identity, values, attitudes, and decisions are shaped by Christ Himself. When we listen to His voice through Scripture, His truth begins to rise above the noise of culture and the pull of our old habits. Jesus doesn’t just inform us—He transforms us.
And this new way of life is grounded “in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus.” Truth isn’t shifting, seasonal, or culturally updated. Truth is found in Christ—steady, pure, and unchanging. The more we cling to Him, the more our lives begin to reflect the new life He’s called us into.
Christ didn’t save us to leave us unchanged. He saved us to make us new—thinking differently, loving differently, living differently.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for calling me out of my old way of life and into the new life found in Jesus. Teach me to listen to Your truth above every other voice. Shape my heart, renew my mind, and help me walk in the life Christ has taught me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Have a fabulous day and a wonderful weekend. God bless and lots’a love,
Warren
