The Prime Minister announced at the close of the 2 day door-to-door national vaccination campaign that an estimated 20 to 30 thousand people had been covered.

There were 117 mobile teams despatched today with 200 vaccines in each vehicle.

Samoa Global News caught up with a team who had discarded their number and named themselves,  team “We Love Samoa”.

The team were vaccinating a family in Vaimea near Apia. Three members of a family including an 82 year old grandfather were vaccinated.

Team member and Principal Research Officer of the Ministry of  Agriculture and Fisheries, Taimalie Aualiitia Eufarate Matalavea said people aged over 60 were able to be vaccinated on request.

Toloafoa Vaelua Lesatele came forward with a big smile and wanted to be vaccinated.

He said he was glad to be vaccinated despite his age, posing with his granddaughter Aotearoa after his injection.

Head Vaccinator Lokeni Tiatia said they had administered 247 vaccinations yesterday and close to 100 today.

The assistant nurse for Team We Love Samoa was Inosia Faaluma and the Blueaky rep for data entry was Tia Osana Lemalu.

Taimalie said their team have been dubbed “Team We Love Samoa” as part of building up team work as they came from different departments of Government.

The team were in an MNRE van driven by the Ministry’s Principal Corporate Services Officer, Telea Sagato

The spirits were high amongst the team despite the long hours over the past 48 hours.
