In a remarkable feat for Samoa at the Pacific Games Sailing 2023, Vaimo’oi’a Malietoa Ripley has clinched the bronze medal in the ILCA6 individual competition, marking a historic achievement for Samoa. The excitement didn’t end there, as the 17-year-old sailing sensation, Elizabeth Rasch, teamed up with Vaimo’oi’a to secure yet another bronze medal in the team event.

Vaimo’oi’a’s exceptional performance in today’s medal race marks a personal best winning 5 out of 11 races. Samoa competed against Australia’s elite Olympian team and Fiji’s silver medalist in the 2020 Olympics.

Samoa Sailing team, led by Team Manager Fritz Rasch said he was proud of the team’s accomplishment, emphasizing the significance of Samoa securing the bronze medal at the Pacific Games.

“The achievement adds to the growing success of Samoa in sailing, showcasing the talent and determination of the nation’s sailors on the international stage,” said Rasch.

As the Pacific Games continue, all eyes are now on the men’s races set to commence on Monday, with Samoa represented by Eroni Leilua and Vitolio Iamafana.

The island nation is poised for more thrilling performances, building on the momentum of this historic double-bronze success in sailing.
