TC Vicky Moves Away from Samoa, towards Tutuila and Manua

Tropical Depression TD09F that impacted Samoa was uograded to Tropical Cyclone Vicky this afternoon.

It located about 133km South South East of Apia or 69km South South East of Aleipata at 2pm.

TC Vicky continues to move East South East and away from Samoa at a speed of 11km/h and passed over Tutuila and Manua today, causing closure of all schools and Government Departments on the Terrritory.

A low pressure system was analysed to the West North West approximately 577km of Apia as it drifts slowly towards Samoa.

The system will again bring heavy rain and strong gusty winds tomorrow.

Expect periods of heavy rain, damaging gusty winds and damaging heavy swells for this morning.

Potential Impacts:

Heavy downpours with poor visibility, strong and gusty winds with flying objects, foggy and slippery roads over mountain passes and ranges, strong river outflow and landslides, pooling near roadsides and waterways. Strong currents as well as rough seas and coastal inundation. Uproot breakable trees.
