“PARLIAMENTARY REPORTERS’ HANDBOOK LAUNCH”
Today, the Parliament Reporters’ Handbook was officially launched at the Maota o Tofilau Eti Alesana building, Mulinuu, with The Deputy Prime Minister, Hon Tuala Tevaga Iosefo Ponifasio cutting the ribbon.
The keynote speakers for the event were the Hon. Speaker – Susuga PAPALII Lio Oloipola Taeu Masipau, the Australian High Commisioner to Samoa – Her Excellency Emily Luck, President of JAWS – Susuga Lagi Keresoma and Mr. Steve Chase – PACMAS Consultant.
The Deputy Speaker Auuapaau and Deputy leader of the Opposition, Hon Lauofo Fonotoe Pierre Lauofo were also in attendance
The overall purpose of the handbook is to provide practical guidance and advice for journalists who are engaged in reporting the proceedings of the Legislative Assembly of Samoa.
It gives journalists an overview of the protocols and systems of Parliament as well as information on best practices for Parliamentary reporting.
The Parliamentary handbook is a great tool for journalists who now have the appropriate support for effective and responsible parliamentary reporting, and in turn guarantees that the public is given the most accurate information.
