Talimalo Campaign Launches to Boost Savaii Tourism

14 December, 2020: In another drive to boost domestic tourism on Savaii, nine hotel properties have come on board Samoa Tourism Authoriy’s (STA) recently launched Talimalo Campaign targeted towards family and group travel to the big Island.

The Talimalo Campaign is funded by the STA with support from Events, Marketing and Distribution Samoa (EMD) and is a tactical initiative which will promote special deals from participating hotels, resorts and beach fales.

The packages are valid till 31 March 2021 and will vary from property to property but feature generously reduced prices to cater for different budgets that target family and group getaways

The campaign launch took place last week, at the Amoa Resort where STA Marketing Manager, Dwayne Bently gave the opening remarks before members of the Savaii Samoa Tourism Association (SSTA) and representatives from participating properties.

“The Talimalo Campaign is part and parcel of the Samoa Tourism Authority’s strategy to drive domestic tourism given Covid-19 and the ongoing closure of international borders” said Mr Bentley

“I am pleased to announce that nine Savaii businesses have come onboard. With the launch of domestic interisland flights between Upolu and Savaii, locals have the added option of flying when they take their Savaii escape.”

President of SSTA Vaelua Faapoipoi Gidlow acknowledged the vital support of local visitors in keeping the industry afloat and encouraged Savaii hoteliers to continue their work in catering to the domestic market.

“In these difficult times – I hope and pray it will be short lived – we can only look inward to our local market to fill the void” said Vaelua “the challenge is for us as operators to create attractive conditions including affordable packages to entice our locals to book. Let us continue to work as one and bring out the best in everyone and make this campaign a success! The timing is perfect – the holiday season is upon us.”

The participating properties in Savaii are; Amoa Resort, Jet Over Hotel, Bayview Resort, Tailua Beach Fales, Jane’s Beach Fales, Stevensons at Manase, Va-I-Moana Seaside Lodge, Falealupo Beach Fales and Le Rosalote Guest Fales.

To assist Savaii hotel properties in promoting these special packages, the Talimalo Campaign will be carried out over social media and print advertising by the STA.
