Since its launch in 2006, Digicel Samoa has built and maintained a close relationship with the Samoa Victim Support Group.

According to SVSG President, Siliniu Lina Chang, “While SVSG was set up in 2005, Digicel launched its services in 2006, and since then, the relationship has developed into a very close connection.”

Over the years, Digicel Samoa has assisted with the operation of the SVSG Helpline service, coordinated a fundraising drive to build the Ray of Hope shelter for abused pregnant women, to the ongoing well-being support for the young victims of abuse seeking shelter at the Campus of Hope facility.

And every year, Digicel Samoa has hosted a ‘Christmas With Digicel’, a fun movie night where the children under the care of SVSG get the cinema’s all to themselves.

This year’s visit, however, was bittersweet, as it follows the recent announcement of the retirement of long-serving Chairman, Pepe Christian Fruean. A tenure he held while building a family relationship with SVSG, to help heal the abused through genuine partnership, love and compassion.

Digicel Samoa CEO, Anthony Seuseu, shared that the Company’s plans to farewell its retired Chairman has been diverted to meet Pepe Christian’s request – to donate all the money intended for his farewell to his charity, the Samoa Victim Support Group.

Speaking on behalf of the SVSG Board of Directors, Siliniu Lina Chang, thanked Digicel Samoa for their continued support.

“Thank you to the CEO of Digicel Samoa, management and staff, for honoring Pepe Christian Fruean’s charity commitment to SVSG, and continuing with it, as per today’s visit and donation.”

She also acknowledged the retired Chairman of Digicel Samoa, and his love for the children.

“You will always be remembered for your sincerity in helping SVSG any way you can, Pepe Christian Fruean. Even your farewell event, you have channeled it to help heal the abused children.”

“Faafetai le alofa.”

“The children of hope join SVSG in wishing Pepe Christian Fruean and the Digicel Samoa family a merry Christmas and blessed New Year.”
