Samoa Police have still not made an arrest in relation to the alleged rape of a 15 year old girl by her own church minister.
Last week Deputy Police Commissioner Papalii Monalisa Tiai-Keti had confirmed a complaint had been laid and the Criminal Investigation Division CID had launched an investigation into a church minister from a village in Savaii.
“The alleged victim is a daughter of the Congregation,” Papalii had said. “She has been taken under the care of the Samoa Victim Support Group.”
This week Police Commissioner Auapaau Logoitino Filipo confirms an arrest has still not been made.
“No we have not yet made an arrest, however, the investigation is ongoing..”
Sources from Savaii confirm the church minister is from the EFKS of Letui in the district of Gagaifomauga 3.
“The church has broken ties and removed its faifeau (tatala le feagaiga), and the village have fined and banished the victim’s family.
It is understood the young girl frequented the faifeaus home as is the common practice for youth to help out with chores at the church minister’s home.
