The Samoa Cancer Society was presented with a cash donation of $34,000 tala raised through the Pinktober Mother, Daughter, Sisters Fundraiser held earlier in the month.
This year the fundraising event was coordinated by Samoa Stationery and Books (SSAB), in partnership with the Samoa International Finance Authority (SIFA).
Samoa Cancer Society Chief Executive Officer, Su’a John Ryan and SCS President Lauaki Jason Annandale received the donation at an official handover ceremony held at the SSAB conference rooms.

The programme was hosted by SSAB’s Asomua Alosio Stanley who opened the programme with a prayer and gave a warm welcoming address.
“The $34,000 tala donation was raised from the Mother, Daughter and Sister Dinner held last week Friday where women leaders from Government and the Business Community were invited to the dinner coordinated and sponsored by SIFA and SSAB,” explained Asomua.

Asomua Stanley said the event last year was solely coordinated and sponsored by SSAB.
“This year SIFA wanted to offer their assistance in remembrance and in honor of SIFA’s former CEO Alosamoa Erna Vaai Aiono”, said Asomua.

In addition to being an important fundraiser for the crucial work of SCS, the Mother, Daughter and Sister event raises awareness on the importance of early detection of breast cancer as well as the importance of getting regular check ups.
Pesident of the Samoa Cancer society, Lauaki Jason Annandale acknowledged SSAB and SIFA for the monetary gift and for their ongoing support for the work of the Samoa Cancer Society each year.
