
Five men and a woman arrested during a police drug raid of two properties at Vaitele and Lalovaea, appeared in the Supreme Court on Monday morning for criminal mentions.
The six defendants were remanded in custody after police raided a home at Maali St Vaitele-Uta and another home at Lalovaea, confiscating more than $23k tala, illegal handguns, ammunition, utensils, devices, a combination lock safe, together with speakers, televisions and jewelry, all suspected to have been stolen goods or goods bartered in exchange for drugs.
Defendants included homeowners of the Vaitele property on Maaali St, Ilaita Tafili and Puleiata Moafanua, who have all been in custody since the police raid last month.
The other defendants are Tootoo Tootoo, Christopher Milo, Duncan Junior Ah Hi and Malo Posini.
The couple, Iliata and Puleiata were represented by Fuimaono Sarona Ponifasio while the other four appeared unrepresented.
When asked by Justice Fepuleai Ameperosa Roma who presided over the matter if they wanted Counsels, they all responded said, no.
All six were granted bail with strict conditions to sign in twice a week and surrender all travel documents.
No pleas were entered as the prosecution requested a further two weeks to finalise charges.
Justice Fepuleai has adjourned the matter to 30 August for re-mention.
