Aeau Tima Leavai will once again contest the Falealupo seat under the Human Rights Protection Party banner for the August 29th general elections.

Aeau had won the Falealupo seat at the 2021 General Election. The Falealupo seat was the first unofficial result announced post the 2021 general election – placing Aeau at 455 to 349 votes over FAST party candidate, Fuiono Tenina Chrichton.
However, post-election Aeau’s grandson was in an unfortunate accident which led to the senior lawyer opting out, allowing Fuiono Tenina to take up the Constituent’s seat for the past 4 years.
On Friday at the Petesa HRPP party headquarters, a large contingent of Falealupo attended to momoli their lawyer candidate to the Human Rights Protection Party.

Principal of Leavai Law firm, Aeau Leota Tima Leavai is a Barrister, Solicitor and Accredited Mediator, often seen frequenting the halls of Samoa’s Supreme Court on civil matters, though she is also a well sought after criminal defense attorney.
A woman of many talents, the Falealupo candidate is a double International Pacific Games representative for Samoa. Aeau has won silver medals in both tennis and golf for Team Samoa.
Aeau Tima is also a nationally acclaimed musician, and has helped many church choir groups with musical arrangements and concert preparations.

Aeau is the eldest daughter of long serving Member of Parliament and former Speaker of the House, Aeau Peniamina Leavai who recently passed away.
Aeau continues her father’s legacy, and says her father who retired from politics in 2021 after 26 years as a Member of Samoa’s Legislative Assembly, will always be her why and motivation to serve Samoa.

“It is a blessing to be able to continue the work of my father,. observing his approach to politics over all these years has been an inspiration, and the best learning grounds I could have asked for”.
Aeau is married to SPREP Legal Counsel, Aumua Clark Peteru. They have four children and three grandchildren.
