The win against Australia also stamps Tupuola’s ticket to the Olympic Games in Paris.

“I left it all in there, I just went in there and went for a fight in typical Samoan style..”

Plodzicki-Faoagali, now 24, has been boxing for Samoa since he was a teenager when he represented Samoa at the Youth Commonwealth Games in 2017.

In 2017 Ato won a bronze medal at the Youth Commonwealth Games. As a 19 year old, he won Samoa a Silver medal at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in 2018. He also represented Samoa to the Tokyo Olympics.

“Viia Le Atua! 🙏🏽 x2 Olympian coming up and x2 Pacific games champ.”

“Faafetai Samoa and all my Aiga, and sponsors for your support and prayers.”

We’re ready Samoa! Very proud to Captain my team again and represent our people 🇼🇸
