Samoa’s 2025 Christmas baby was born at 00:03 hours, just three minutes after midnight at the Motootua National Hospital Labour Ward, under the watchful care of Midwife in Charge for Labour and Delivery, Tiara Tuulua (SRN, SRM).

Vienna Vaasili from Saleimoa gave birth to a beautiful baby boy who weighed in at 2,540 grams.

Ms Vaasili was surrounded with love and support throughout labour from her mom and aunty, now doting over the best gift they could’ve received for Christmas.

Tiara Tuulua, Senior Registered Nurse (SRN) and Senior Registered Midwide (SRM), said there were no complications for Samoa’s 2025 Christmas baby.

“It wasn’t a long labour and it was very straight forward for her first baby,” said Ms Tuulua.

“Vienna cooperated well with our team and that made our job easier..”

There are three other mothers in labour tonight at the Motootua National Hospital Labour Ward, but at the time SGN went to publish at 2.30am no other babies had been born.

Samoa’s leading provider of ICT Solutions.

“Vienna’s baby boy is our only Christmas night birth in the first two hours,” said Tuulua, “but we may have three more births before our shift ends..’

While Samoa celebrates Christmas with families, the Labour Ward is being kept afloat by our unsung hero nurses and midwives.

Alex Faapu’e, Siaulaina Tupe, Tiara Tuulua.

Siaulaiga Tupe and Joseph Aukuso are Senior Registered Midwifes (SRM). Samasoni Toetu is the Junior Registered Nurse (RN) and Alex Faapu’e is a newly graduated midwife learning the ropes from veteran nurses and midwives around him.
