Inspector Faamatala Vaalele-Tuvale, Second In Charge of the Traffic Enforcement Division of the Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services is on a six-week secondment to New Zealand through a project of the Pacific Islands Chief of Police (PICP).

Inspector Vaalele is the latest Seconded Pacific Officer (SPO), and will be representing the PICP at the Global Road Safety Partnership Conference in Christchurch this week.

She will then be spending time with the New Zealand Police Road Policing team at the Police National Headquarters in Wellington, as well as at the Waikato District.

The PICP supported SPO Programme began in 2004, providing opportunities for PICP members to undertake secondments in to the Secretariat, and other locations.

Secondments address specific capability development needs as identified by Pacific Police Chiefs and Commissioners.

Inspector Vaalele’s secondment will contribute towards building the road policing capability of Samoa.
