Saturday 7 January 2023, Savaii Samoa. The Samoa Police divers have this morning recovered the body of a 23 year old male from Sapulu Salelologa.
The man was reported missing since Thursday 5th January, from a fishing trip.
Samoa Police, Prisons and Corrections Services (SPPCS) say in a public post that investigations are continuing.
“We ask the public’s patience and we convey our sincerest condolences to the affected families”.
SPPCS caution the public against fishing in the current weather conditions.
“With the weather conditions worsening, Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services reminds the public; not to go out fishing.”

It has been a festive season of tragedies for Samoa.
The body of a 55 year old male from Asau Savaii was recovered on Sunday 1st January after his vehicle is suspected to have run off a cliff on the side of the road at Fagafau.
