Samoa Police Charge 21-Year-Old Youth with Murder


Samoa Police have arrested and charged a 21-year-old boy with murder in relation to a homicide investigation following the death of a 47-year-old male.

Police had earlier reported the 47-year-old had died during an incident on Monday night, 2nd January 2023.

“This message serves to inform the public, that police have completed their investigation of an incident that occured last night, which lead to the death of a 47-year-old man.’

Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services (SPPCS) say they have charged the 21 year old suspect with murder, with alternative charges of manslaughter, grievous bodily harm, actual bodily harm and assault.

The suspect is remaded in custody and remains so until his mention in court on the 30th of January 2023.

Last week the Samoa Police arrested and charged a 20-year-old male with murder in relation to a homicide that occurred in the early hours of Chritmas Day Sunday. In that incident a 28-year-old male was killed.

In another festive season homicide, a former police officer has been charged with murder following the fatal shooting of a police woman in the early hours of Saturday morning 24th December. The incident was one of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV).
