Samoa Police Call Off Search for Missing Asau Man

Translated from FaaSamoa. Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services have called off a search for a missing 77 year old man who left his Asau home on Friday 14th April to head inland to his plantation.

Police Commissioner Auapaau Logoitino Filipo says the search has been called off however the missing person file remains open and they would welcome any new information or evidence on the whereabouts of Tautaifau Kipaoa Faavesi.

Tautaifau has been missing from his home since 9am on Friday 14th April 2023. He was last seen leaving home for his plantation wearing a black stripe shirt and a black ie.

His children told Police that their father would go out to his plantation every morning, however, on that Friday, the 77 year old did not return.

According to the Police Commissioner, the search has been intensive involving village matai and aumaga.

Police drones were used to help scan the mountainous terrain but there was no sign of the elderly man.

Commissioner Auapaau acknowledged the joint efforts with Samoa Fire and Emergency Services (FESA) as well as the many volunteers from the village community.
