Samoa’s former Chairman of the National Council of Churches (NCC) Deacon Kasiano Leaupepe, has passed away at the age of 86.
News of Deacon Kasiano’s passing has filled social media with tributes from friends and admirers in Samoa and across the globe.
Samoa mourns the passing of Deacon Kasiano Leaupepe who served the NCC and the Catholic Church diligently until he retired just a few months ago.

Affectionately known as just Kasiano, the former Chairman of the NCC has passed away just two weeks after celebrating his 86th birthday.
Deacon Leaupepe Kasiano, who held a doctorate in Gagana Samoa, served as Chairman of the NCC for 10 years. He took over from Reverend Elder Oka Fauolo of the EFKS. Last month, Deacon Kasiano retired and Reverend Aisoli Iuli of the Methodist Church took over the role.
