On 24 February 2026, Samoa and Australia signed a Cybersecurity Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance cooperation on cyber affairs, critical technologies, and infrastructure protection.
The agreement focuses on building Samoa’s capacity to prevent and respond to cybercrime, promoting online safety, safeguarding critical infrastructure, supporting the safe adoption of emerging technologies, and sharing information on cyber threats.
This partnership builds on years of collaboration, including the establishment of SamoaCERT and joint initiatives such as Cyber RAPID, PaCSON, PILON, and SAPP.
The MOU was signed by the Hon. Prime Minister of Samoa, susuga La’aulialemalietoa Leuatea Polataivao Fosi Schmidt, and the Australian Foreign Minister, Senator the Hon. Penny Wong, in the presence of Samoa Cabinet Ministers and officials from both countries.
