Renowned Author and Educator of Samoan Cultural Language Leads Sagaga 2 Seat

Renowned orator, author and educator of Samoan cultural language and practices, Maulolo Tavita Amosa has secured the most votes in the preliminary count for Sagaga 2 district. Sagaga 2 comprising just three villages of Afega, Malie and Tuanai.

The Human Rights Protection Party candidate has polled 613 votes, 47 votes ahead of second placed, Faalogo Ivins Chan K Tong to Faatuatua i Le Atua Samoa ua Tasi – FAST.

There were 3 FAST, 2 HRPP and 1 Independent candidate in the Sagaga 2 race.

Results by Booth

In third place was former Manu Samoa Manager Fata Ryan Schuster, with Faamausili Siona of HRPP in fourth place. Fata Meafou of FAST polled in fifth place while Independent Vaotuua Michael Toevai polled sixth.

There are 143 pre-polling votes yet to be counted. Although unlikely, it is statistically possible for a change in the lead, following the pre-polling vote count.

Maulolo Tavita Amosa is a consultant of culture and traditions, and the owner of Samoa Culture Centre at Falelauniu. He is a widely respected educator of Samoan cultural practices, authoring the multi-volume book, “Fausaga o Lauga Samoa”.
