Recreation Ministry Clarifies Use of Malaefatu Park for Private Events

𝐔𝐒𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐅𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐒 𝐀𝐓 𝐌𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐄𝐅𝐀𝐓𝐔 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐊 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐕𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒. 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐭. The Ministry of Sports and Recreation (MSR) wishes to clarify that the Government has not approved any official hire rates for the booking of the traditional Fales or any other part of the Malaefatu Park for private events.

Malaefatu Park remains open to the public for its intended recreational use during normal operating hours, as previously communicated by the Ministry.

The building of Samoan Fales in the Park is part of the vision of the Independence Committee 2026, Chaired by the Hon. Prime Minister, for families get together and recreation and add a personable character and atmosphere to the Malaefatu Park.

As announced on the official M.S.R. Facebook page, individuals, families, community groups, churches, schools, businesses, and organisations who are planning events outside the Park’s normal public recreational use are encouraged to contact the Ministry directly to discuss their requirements.

Each enquiry will be assessed on its merits, and the Ministry will provide the appropriate information and guidance.

M.S.R. respectfully encourages the public to rely on official Ministry communications for accurate and up-to-date information regarding the use of Malaefatu Park and any future booking arrangements.
