Public Holiday Confirmed for Mother’s Day

The Chief Executive Office of the Ministry of Commerce Industry and Labour (MCIL) Pulotu Lyndon Chu Ling issued a notice in regards to Mother’s Day and has hereby advise to treat Monday 10th April 2021 as a public holiday.

“Shops selling goods may open during Public Holidays in accordance with the provisions of the Public Holiday Act 2008” the MCIL notice states

The Ministry of Commerce Industry and Labour continues to remind all employers to comply with Section 39 of the Labour and Employment Relations Act 2013 which highlights the rate of wages to be paid to employees who work on Public Holidays.


Public and Private sector must adhere to the Amended State of Emergency Order (43) dated 7th April 2021 which is still in effect.

The opening hours for supermarkets from Monday to Saturday is 6am until 10pm and Sunday from 3pm to 10pm
