Translated from FaaSamoa by Ganasavea Manuia Tafeaga. Police have arrested and charged a 22 year old male in relation to an attack on a member of the Survivor Australia crew.

The popular Survivor television series is currently being filmed in the south west coast of Upolu.
Responding to questions from Samoa Global News, Police Commissioner Auapaau Logoitino Filipo said police were alerted in the early hours of last Thursday morning 8 September.
It is alleged the 22 year old crawled into woman’s bed while she was sleeping, and when she awoke, he assaulted her and fled.
The woman gave the police a description of her attacker and according to the Commissioner, the youth was then apprehended with the help of village members.
The accused is due to appear in the Supreme Court later this month.
Police had earlier this week also confirmed they are investigating an incident of theft where cameras and filming equipment had been stolen.
Police Commissioner Auapaau has called for a community stance to look after the Survivor crew members and respect the visiting filming and production crew.
“These opportunities are important for Samoa,” said the Commissioner, “and if we don’t stand together as a community to ensure the safety and well being of visiting film crews, it will affect the future of Samoa to host such events”.
