Passengers escaped serious injury in a two-car collision at Taga Savaii at around 7am on Thursday morning.

One of the cars flipped and landed upside down, with the bonnet of the other tucked underneath it.
An eye witness who had filmed the incident told Samoa Global News an elderly man and a little girl around 4 or 5 years old were traveling in a white sedan while two men and a woman were passengers in the second vehicle.

“O le taavale paepae na omai ai le toeaina ma lona afafine e i lalo o le 5 poo le 4 tausaga, ae o le isi taavale na omai ai tama e toalua ma se tinā.”
Kyleen Paul was on her way to work and said she stopped and saw the accident unfold.
She said she was thankful to God that no one was seriously hurt or died from the accident.
“From what I could see, the accident was caused when the elderly man in the white car tried to overtake the other vehicle.”
“O la’u lava iloa i le mea sa tupu na mafua ona lavea o le toeaina lea sa alu atu i le taavale paepae, ua ia taumafai e tipi i tua le taavale laititi lea sa fetoai ai loa ma mafua ai ona lavevea.”
Kayleen said the two cars collided during the attempt to overtake and this caused both cars to veer off the side of the road, one on top of the other.
“It was so lucky than no one was injured. All the passengers came out of the cars and I could see that no one had any injuries, even the young girl was ok.”
“Faafetai i Le Alii e lei iai se isi e lavea pe faamanualia i lenei faalavelave, ae maise lava le teneititi laititi, e lei iai ni manuaga foi ia te ia.”
