Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Encourage Investment in our Young Children, the Leaders of Tomorrow

Pacific Forum Leaders Meeting, Suva Fiji.  Pacific Islands Forum Leaders and officials spent the morning hearing young children’s dreams for 2050, including a Mother-Daughter Talanoa about Climate Change with Pacific Climate Warrior Alisi Rabukawaqa-Nacewa and her daughter Aiyanna Nacewa.

The children of Mobile Kindy Fiji led the program in which the Pacific Islands Forum Chair and Prime Minister of Fiji, Hon Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama launched the Pacific Child Website www.pacific-child.org and encouraged investment and action for the young children of the Blue Pacific.

Taking on the roles of Early Childhood Development Champions, Prime Minister Bainimarama and Prime Minister of Samoa, Hon Fiame Naomi Mata’afa, urged those present to commit to invest in young children as a pathway for climate resilience, and supporting the innovators and leaders of 2050.

The Launch of the Pacific Child Website and PRC4ECD Commitment to Climate Change was hosted by the Fijian Government on behalf of the Co-Chairs of the Pacific Regional Council for Early Childhood Development (PRC4ECD): Fiji Minister for Health and Medical Services, Hon Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete, and Samoa Minister for Finance, Hon Mulipola Anarosa ‘Ale Molio’o.

UNICEF Pacific, Secretariat of the Council, congratulated Pacific countries for supporting young children to reach their full potential.

“We look forward to working together to nurture and invest in Our Children Today, Our Leaders Tomorrow.”
