The 52nd Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police (PICP) Annual Conference is underway in New Zealand.

Commissioner of Police, Auapaau Logoitino Filipo, is leading Samoa’s delegation at the annual event, held this year at the historic Waitangi Treaty Grounds, Aotearoa New Zealand.

Samoa’s delegation includes Deputy Commissioner Leiataua Samuelu Afamasaga and Assistant Commissioner Papalii Efo.

They are joined by Detective Superintendent Lefaoalii Aldora Mamaia, who is currently seconded to the PICP Secretariat in New Zealand as the Women’s Advisory Network Program Coordinator .

The first day began with a powerful and moving pōwhiri to honor the traditions of the land and welcome the esteemed Chiefs, leaders and delegates from across the Pacific.

This year’s conference theme, “Looking In, Looking Out, Looking Ahead”, reflects the launch of the PICP Strategic Plan 2025–2029.

The plan sets strategic direction and focuses on strengthening partnerships, addressing regional policing challenges, and building a safer, more secure Blue Pacific.

Pacific Island Forum Secretary General Hon Baron Waqa was the keynote address at the Strat Plan launch and the evenings dinner was hosted by NZ Police Commissioner Richard Chambers.
