LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Enough Is Enough.

The Prime Minister, Fiame Naomi Mata’afa, as leader of Government, will need to do a lot more than appeal to La’auli Leuatea Schmidt to stop misleading the nation and lead by example if she expects him to stop his misinformation and disinformation tactics.

Her appeal is like asking the fox to be nice to the chickens in the coup.

She needs to address the serious allegations that La’auli is making against her.

These are also allegations against the highest elected officials in the land, which will simply not go away until they are settled in the court of law.

For whatever reason, Fiame never held La’auli accountable for his actions until it was too late.

Her continuous appeasement is why La’auli’s open lies and deceit have become normalized in Samoa over the last 3 and a half years.

Her belief in the freedom of Cabinet Ministers to follow their own initiatives, ignoring the principle of collective responsibility, has destroyed the stability of this country.

It is the reason why Laauli’s supporters don’t see anything wrong with what the Faatuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi – Samoa United Party government has done.

From the corrupt distribution of village project funds to illegal land leases, stock exchanges, border violations, the importation of weapons and the takeover of government assets.

The most recent media reports are of state-owned buses provided by our partners that have somehow ended up in FAST roadshows.

It just never ends.

La’auli does not believe or understand the principles of accountability and transparency.

His limited understanding of economic and fiscal policy and weakness for quick corrupt money-making schemes will drive Samoa into economic ruin, from which we may never recover.

Contrary to what Fiame and La’auli may think, the whole world is watching.

All over the world, the development partners, financial institutions, investors, and the diaspora are watching as we embarrass ourselves at international meetings and conferences.

We are no longer the model of economic and political stability that put Samoa on the global stage.

In homes, churches, villages and communities across Samoa, our people, including children, civil servants, and businesses are watching the open corruption, lies and hate that is dividing the country.

Our people know when enough is enough.
