By-elections are ONE DAY away.

For all voters of the Upolu constituencies living in Savaii, you don’t have to travel across on Friday. A booth will be available at the OEC office at Salelologa, located at the Bluebird Mall.

After a successful pre-polling day yesterday, where the OEC reports 580 people cast their votes out of the 1011 registered pre-pollers for the six Upolu constituencies returning to the polls tomorrow.

The 6 constituencies are: Sagaga 2, Sagaga 4, Safata 2, Aana Alofi 2, Falealili 2 and Aleipata Itupa i Lalo.

All the best for the upcoming general elections Samoa.

Here is some awesome advice from an elderly woman matai who cast her vote during pre-polling.

Taulupe Apelu

Tualupe Apelu, 72, of Malie and Fasitoo calls for peace as Samoa prepared for the by-elections.

Tualupe quoted from Psalm 133:1, “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity.”

“Faauta, o le mea ina lelei ma matagofie, o uso ae nonofo faatasi..”

Tualupe says it doesn’t matter which candidate is successful, she believes that is the answer from God.

“We should not let politics and elections come between us and create animosity between members of our village, church and family..”

“Pe manuia lau sui pe leai, ia maua a le tatou fealofani. O le palota e faifai uma, ae o le mafutaga e tumau pea..”

Tualupe Apelu says not all candidates can win, and it is important to be able to lose honorably and maintain unity within villages…

“Omai e faatino le tatou palota, poo ai lava e te palota ai, a manumalo pe faiaina foi, o le malolo lava faatamali le tu ma aga a le matai Samoa.”
