A man facing over 30 sexual violation charges in New Zealand will be extradited following a district court decision to accept an application filed by the New Zealand Crown Law office on behalf of the government.

Tulisi Leiataua has been charged with nine counts of sexual violation by rape, three counts of indecent act of a young person, one count of indecent assault, 12 counts of sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection, and six charges of an indecent act on a child.

Samoa’s district court ruled the charges were extradition offences, with maximum penalties of not less than 12 months for each offence.

Leiataua will remain in Samoa Police custody until his extradition date scheduled for 16 March 2020.
