Nofoalii Village Unites to Celebrate Samoa’s 60th Independence

The village of Nofoalii on the northwest coast of Upolu celebrated Samoa’s 60th anniversary with a special flag hoisting ceremony and service that brought together more than 300 members of the village on Wednesday morning 01st June 2022.

There are six churches denominations in the village of Nofoalii and the spirit of unity was seen amongst the village with all six church ministers present and taking part in the service.

In accordance to an order by Government that within 12 months of Independence year, Nofoalii is ready to organise and take part in different activities for instance, sports and traditional performances.

The keynote address was delivered by businessman and founder of Samoa Beverages Ltd, or Taula Taimalieutu Charlie Ah Liki and Tanuvasa Lefinealii.

Taimalieutu also hoisted the flag of Independence with veteran matai and high chief of Nofoalii, Tanuvasa Lefinealii.

The event was hosted at the formal meeting fale (maota) of Taimalieutu Charlie, at Lupesee.

Villagers said the occasion was the first time in a long time, that the village had come together with such a joyous spirit of togetherness.

“With six churches in our village, it’s not often that we’re able to come together as a village like this,” one village rep said.

“It has really been a special day and we thank the village committee as well as the support of Taimalieutu Charlie for taking the time to organise this event for our village of Nofoalii”.

Nofoali’i village is uniquely located on the main road towards the airport between Fasito’o Uta and Leulumoega.

It is the sixth village from Faleolo International Airport, and is part of A’ano Alofi 3 Electoral Constituency.
