No Leads on Lelata Bridge Death – Police Appeal to Members of the Public for Information

The Samoa Police have reached out to the public for any information that could assist with their investigations into the death of a fire fighter whose dead body was found under Lelata Bridge on Wednesday 17th February 2021.
Police and FESA were alerted at around 8am that morning and removed the body as traffic was building up on Lelata Bridge.

It was an emotional response for Samoa’s Fire and Emergency Services Authority, as the deceased was himself, a staff member of FESA who had been with the department since 1998.
Laki Aasa pays tribute to a friend and colleague recalling the 2009 tsunami, and the measles epidemic.
“Your heart is always for our people and will always be. Puni my friend, rest in peace in the arms our Lord Jesus Christ our Savior and our Redeemer. Never forget your hard work in the department of fire brigade since 1998. We were only 12 brave warriors selected. RIP Uso. Ia faamaise atu Le Atua i le faletua ma le fanau, faapea aiga ma uo”.

Deputy Commissioner Auapaau Logoitino Filipo said there were serious injuries on his body, and they are treating the investigation as a homicide.
Yesterday a message posted on the Samoa Police Prisons and Corrections Services Facebook page calls on members of the public to come forward if they saw anything unusual in this area, or have any information that could assist investigations.
