21 August 2025, Gvt Press Release. The Samoa Tourism Authority will be led by tourism stalwart, afioga Niumata Kitiona Pogi for the next three years following his appointment as Chief Executive Officer.
Niumata is not new to the STA and the tourism industry having been with the Samoa Tourism Authority for over 10 years, as Manager of Research & Statistics.
He has often moved to act in various management positions within STA including as Acting CEO from to time.
An independent panel selected Niumata from amongst 7 other applicants vying for the role.
The panel highlighted Niumata’s experience in strategic planning and direction for the tourism sector, complemented with his involvement in budget preparations and financial reporting.
In its recommendations, the Panel acknowledged “Niumata’s deep understanding of the STA operations, the tourism sector and stakeholder relationships.”
“Coupled by the CEO’s vital role at the frontline were also taken into account.”
