Nevo Ioane Wins First Goal for NBS Team Weightlifting at Oceania Championship and Olympic Qualifiers

Nevo Ioane has dominated the mens 67kg division winning the first Gold medal for the National Bank of Samoa Weightlifting Team at the Oceania Senior and Junior Championships and Olympic Qualifiers 2024.

The competition is being held at the Due Drop Events Centre in Manukau, Auckland New Zealand.

“Foi pea le viiga I le Tama o I le lagi. Faafetai Samoa mo le tapuaiga!”

The preparation of Samoa’s weightlifters was boosted by $20,000 tala handed to them by the National Bank of Samoa securing naming rights for the competition.

President and Head Coach of Samoa’s most successful sports team said the support by NBS boosted the morale of the team to not only win gold for Samoa, but come away with more team members qualified for the Paris Olympics.

Tuaopepe Asiata Jerry Wallwork was on ETLive on the weekend, calling for all Samoans in Auckland to come along and support the NBS Weightlifting Team over the 3 days of competition this week.
