Namulauulu Sami Leota has come in ahead of former Speaker of the House, Papalii Lio Taeu Masipa’u for the Constituency of Faasaleleaga No 2.
Preliminary results places Namulauulu 167 votes ahead of Papalii, while 245 special votes are yet to be counted.
Namulauulu polled 806 to Papalii’s 639.
The gap of 167 between the two candidates, with 245 special votes yet to be counted means there is a possibility for Papalii to close the gap, however, he would need to win the special votes by a margin of 168.
Namulauulu is the current President of the Lakapi Samoa. He has worked in the Private Sector as a long-serving General Manager of Federal Pacific Insurance and FedPac Finance.
Namulauulu is a current Board member of the National Bank of Samoa, and has been a board member of the Central Bank of Samoa and the Samoa National Provident Fund.
