The popular Namu’a Island in the east coast of Upolu has launched its new electric boat, significantly improving the travel experience for guests and tourists. This state-of-the-art vessel will facilitate more comfortable and convenient transportation between the main island and Namu’a, enhancing accessibility to this popular site.

The electric boat, received through the collaborative efforts of the government via the Ministry of Women, Community and Social Development and the Ministry of Works, Transport, and Infrastructure, represents a pivotal advancement in Samoa’s commitment to sustainable tourism.

“We consider this an incredible blessing for both our business and our visitors. The new electric boat will undoubtedly enrich the experience for the tourists flocking to discover the beauty of Namu’a Island,” Levasa Ieti Taisa, the owner and director of the Namu’a Island site.

This initiative is part of the CAP-IT (Climate Action Pathways for Island Transport) project, funded by the government of Japan through JICA’s Green Transformation initiative, which aims to promote sustainable transport solutions across Pacific nations.

Namu’a Island is one of the most visited remote destinations due to its secluded location and beautiful white sandy beaches. It’s a popular spot for family getaways or private escapes.

Visitors can also enjoy various activities such as snorkeling, fishing, and hiking to the top of the hill to see the resident bat colony and the tremendous coastal views.
