
The Ministry of Health has issued a second warning against the rapid spread of the influenza virus in Samoa.
The flu is a common viral infection that can be deadly, especially in high-risk groups.
The flu attacks the lungs, nose and throat and the Ministry have listed all its symptoms in a recent public notice, with the strong advice to stay home and avoid public places if you are infected, and most especially of you are coughing.
Young children, older adults, pregnant women and people with chronic disease or weak immune systems are at high risk.
The Ministry states that cases of the flu have been increasingly detected since June, with numenrs skyrocketing compared to the past two years.
The Ministry advises panadols for pain and fever, and a cough suppressant to be taken by those infected.
