Marist 7s Exposes Hidden Talents

Marist 7s once again exposed some of the great hidden talents in Samoa, this time from across the 2 Islands.

This is the first time in the 7s history that 6 men’s teams and 1 women’s team from the big beautiful Island of Savaii have participated at this international event. It’s also the first time in history that a women’s comp has 3 overseas teams participating.

What amazes the supporters and definitely should get the attention of the selectors are the skills and raw talent displayed.

It is the first time in history that teams from Lefaga, Satalo and Salelologa make it to the cup competition and then for Salelologa to make the finals is a reflection of the great work done by volunteer coaches in the villages.

Some of the players have been consistently trying to impress the selectors but unfortunately the team they play in hardly make the bowl competition and these are the teams that when they play, the selectors take a break meaning they are not watching them.

Now these teams have made the cup competition and suddenly people take notice and are talking about them. That’s a great achievement by all the hard working people behind all those teams.

And Marist must be congratulated for continuously setting a platform for these unknown unheralded players to perform for recognition. It is hard work to organise these events.

Well done Marist.

Eds Note: Satalo made the cup quarters 2 years ago.
