28 May 2019, Suva Fiji. The Manu Sina women’s rugby team have secured a comfortable win over Hong Kong in their first match of a tri series tournament between Samoa, Fiji and Hong Kong held in Suva this week.

The women’s rugby team won 34-15, despite the Manusina squad having only congregated in Suva two days before today’s match.

Manusina Captain Masuisuimatamaalii (Sui) Tauaua-Pararaisa told Samoa Global News that it was a massive challenge to only meet up on Saturday night in Fiji as a team.

“With new players from everywhere not knowing each other, we had to gel fast and we managed to quickly do that, especially since we could only get in two training sessions before game day,” said Pararaisa.

The 31 year old Captain thanked God and said she was grateful for the national support shown to the team.

“Faafetai Samoa mo lau tapuaiga. Faafetai i le Atua ua maea ma le manuia le faagatama a le au uso i lenei aso; All the glory goes back to our Mighty Father.”

The Manu Sina will now prepare for their next match against Fiji on Saturday and the team captain says that they will be ok if they stick to their game plan.

“If we stay focused on the game plan of forwards carrying hard, and use our forwards strength to break through lines, drawing in their defence, and giving our backs room to run and finish”.
