
9 July 2022, Apia Samoa. Manu Samoa have secured a comfortable win over Tonga in their second match of the Pacific Nations Cup.
The boys in blue got off to a slow start and were down 18-10 at halftime.
Whatever Head Coach Vaovasamanaia Seilala Mapasua said at halftime worked. The Manu came back to dominate the second half with 24 unanswered points.
Manu Samoa hooker Ray Niuia scored a hat trick, all off solid driving mauls.
Tonga were unable to break Samoa’s defense while at the same time dropping their defensive line to allow Samoa an intercept try to Tumua Manu.
In his first test start, Theo McFarland registered his first test try. On defense, Manu Samoa contested and cleaned out a ruck, leaving the ball available for McFarland to cross over.
Manu Samoa will face hosts Fiji for the third and final match of the PNC 2022.
