A 6 year old school girl who was hit by a vehicle last Friday has this week died from the seriousness of her injuries.
A 59 year old man originally charged with reckless driving causing injury now faces a charge of dangerous driving causing death.
Deputy Police Commissioner Papalii Monalisa Tiai-Keti says the tragic accident happened in Mulivai Safata last Friday, when the 6-year-old was struck by a car while walking home from school.
Papalii says the young girl fought for her life for four days in hospital before passing away early this week.
The Deputy Police Commissioner says the tragic death of the young school girl is a reminder for parents to ensure that there is always an adult to walk children home from school.
“We also call on all drivers to please be more careful and vigilant on the roads for the safety of all pedestrians, especially our children during peak hour times when school is out.”
The driver, himself a father, will appear in Court later this month.
