A Queensland man has been charged with raping and impregnating a 12-year-old girl.
Iosefo Lui faces three counts of rape and one count of indecent treatment of a child.
Police allege Iosefo Lui, 39, fled to New South Wales after the alleged incident in Townsville in 2023, and has been there ever since.
An application to have him extradited from Sydney to Townsville was granted when he appeared in a Sydney Court.
It is alleged he raped the 12-year-old multiple times. The young victim fell pregnant and has since given birth to the child.
After his extradition from NSW was granted, he appears to be smiling as the media photographed him at Sydney Airport.
He was flown to Townsville to face Court.
Nine News reports that his case was mentioned on Friday and adjourned to a later date.
