26 May 2023 – The Macron Hero ‘lands’ in the Samoan archipelago and will be featured on the
jerseys of the Pacific’s rugby team. Macron is the new technical partner of Lakapi Samoa, the Samoa Rugby Union, 12th in the World Rugby Ranking.
The agreement includes the supply of match kits and the entire clothing line for the men’s XV and also the Sevens and women’s teams, until 2029.
A prestigious agreement that further strengthens Macron’s international leadership in the teamwear market and confirms how the Italian brand is the global benchmark in the world of rugby for quality, technicality,
style and personalisation of the garments, specifically designed for the world of rugby.
Lakapi Samoa, founded in 1924 and celebrating its centenary next season, represents the game of rugby, which is the national sport in this archipelago. A game introduced on these islands by the Catholic Marist Brothers in the early 1900s and which today can count on more than 120 clubs and 15,000 rugby players,
which shows how much this sport is part of the Samoan spirit. Samoa is not only a jewel in the pacific, but with Samoa represented around the world, large Samoan populations in New Zealand, Australia and United States of America, the Samoan spirit is truly global.
In every match, there is history, tradition and symbolism, such as the war dance that is performed before every match, the Siva Tau.
History, tradition, and symbols which will be represented on the jerseys and clothing line for the team and fans that Macron will develop, combining the quality and technicality of the materials with attention to detail, graphics and innovative design, characteristics that have always distinguished the Italian company’s production.
“It is with great pleasure and pride that we announce this prestigious partnership with Lakapi Samoa,” commented Gianluca Pavanello, CEO of Macron.
“The Macron Hero will be featured on the jerseys of one of the strongest national teams in the world and its position in the World Rugby Ranking confirms this. The Samoan national team will have highly technical and high-performance garments with a refined and exclusive design, a combination that will also be present in the line dedicated to the fans. An agreement that confirms how Macron and rugby has become binomial globally, and speaking of the World Cup, the entry of Samoa brings to seven the number of ‘Macron’ National Teams that will take the field in the next Rugby World Cup scheduled after the summer in France”.
“To compete with the best in the world, you need to partner with the best in the world. The partnership with Macron means a lot to Lakapi Samoa, said Vincent Fepuleai, CEO Lakapi Samoa. We want to work closely with Macron and their advanced technology, giving our National Teams the best available kit to perform on the global stage. We are also excited about the new designs for fans. We have the most amazing fan base that spread across all parts of the world, so am looking forward to seeing them all in the new Manu Samoa Macron range representing Samoa. I am excited that we are partnering with Macron on a journey which takes us to the Rugby World Cup in France and continues for the next five years.”
