Happy Monday Saints.
Luke 6:27-28 “BUT TO YOU WHO ARE LISTENING I SAY: LOVE YOUR ENEMIES, DO GOOD TO THOSE WHO HATE YOU, BLESS THOSE WHO CURSE YOU, PRAY FOR THOSE WHO MISTREAT YOU.”
The love that we are to have for our enemies is not a feeling or an emotion. You don’t have to be happy with your enemies or be best friends with them.
Jesus explains how we are to love them. He said, “DO GOOD TO THOSE WHO HATE YOU, BLESS THOSE WHO CURSE YOU, PRAY FOR THOSE WHO MISTREAT YOU.”
None of the above are feelings. They are all ACTS. They are self-sacrificing ACTS that put others before ourselves. This is the kind of love that God wants His children to have.
It has nothing to do with how your enemies feel about you. They probably don’t even care about you. But regardless of how they behave towards you, the Lord commands you to DO GOOD to them, BLESS them, and PRAY for them.
Verse 35 tells us why we should love our enemies this way. “THEN YOUR REWARD WILL BE GREAT, AND YOU WILL BE CHILDREN OF THE MOST HIGH, BECAUSE HE IS KIND TO THE UNGRATEFUL AND WICKED.”
Well, what did God do for His enemies? Romans 5:8&10 tells us that “GOD DEMONSTRATES HIS OWN LOVE FOR US IN THIS, WHILE WE WERE STILL SINNERS, CHRIST DIED FOR US… WHILE WE WERE GOD’S ENEMIES, WE WERE RECONCILED TO HIM THROUGH THE DEATH OF HIS SON.”
This is the example we are to follow as CHILDREN OF THE MOST HIGH. It is a fruit of the Spirit. It’s not a work of the flesh or something we can achieve on our own. It requires us to submit and yield ourselves to the Spirit of God.
This kind of love produces GOOD DEEDS that will GLORIFY YOUR FATHER IN HEAVEN.
Love, do good to, bless, and pray for your enemies, and have an extraordinary week. God bless, and lots’a love,
