LIVE TO PLEASE GOD

1Thessalonians 4:1 “As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more.”

Chapter 4 begins with Paul encouraging the Thessalonian believers in their Christian walk. He acknowledges that they’re already living in a way that pleases God. Yet he doesn’t tell them they’ve arrived. Instead, he urges them to “do this more and more.”

This is a good reminder that THE CHRISTIAN LIFE IS ONE OF CONTINUAL GROWTH. No matter how long we’ve followed Christ, there’s always room to become more like Him. We never graduate from obedience, holiness, or spiritual maturity.

Notice Paul’s goal. He doesn’t say, “Live to please yourself,” or, “Live to please other people.” His concern is that BELIEVERS LIVE TO PLEASE GOD. That changes our perspective on every area of life. Our decisions, attitudes, words, relationships, work, and service should all be shaped by one question: “DOES THIS PLEASE THE LORD?”

In a world that constantly tells us to follow our own desires and seek the approval of others, Scripture calls us to a higher standard. Our greatest ambition should be to honour the One who saved us through the death and resurrection of His Son.

Ask yourself today, “Who am I trying to please?” If your desire is to please God, continue walking faithfully. And don’t become complacent… keep growing, keep learning, and keep obeying. By God’s grace, strive to please Him “more and more.”

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for saving me through Jesus Christ and giving me a new purpose in life. Help me to live each day in a way that pleases You. Show me where I need to grow, and give me the grace to obey Your Word more faithfully. May my thoughts, words, and actions bring honour to Your name. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Have a great week. God bless and lots’a love,
Warren
