A LIFE SET APART
Ephesians 5:3 “But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.”
Paul’s words are both clear and caring. He’s not calling believers to fear, but to holiness that flows from belonging to God. Because we are God’s holy people, there are ways of living that no longer fit who we are in Christ.
“Not even a hint” speaks of intentional boundaries. Holiness isn’t about appearances or rule-keeping; it’s about guarding the heart. Sexual immorality, impurity, and greed all spring from the same root—a desire to take rather than to trust. They promise fulfilment but leave the soul empty.
In contrast, God calls His people to a life shaped by contentment, self-control, and reverence. This isn’t restrictive living; it’s freeing living. When our desires are rightly ordered under Christ, we experience peace instead of restlessness, gratitude instead of greed.
Paul reminds us that holiness is fitting. It aligns with who we are now. As those redeemed by Christ and indwelt by His Spirit, our lives are meant to reflect His purity and goodness in an observing world.
Prayer:
Father, please forgive me of any sort of sexual immorality, any kind of impurity, and any form of greed. Thank You for calling me Your own and setting me apart for Yourself. Guard my heart and shape my desires so that my life reflects Your holiness. Help me to live in a way that honours You, bringing joy, purity, and freedom through obedience to Christ. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Have a fabulous day. God bless and lots’a love,
Warren
